Step-by-step explanation:

To Find :-

The polynomial to be subtracted from x^2 + 3x + 7 to get 3x^2 + 5x - 4:-

Solution :-

Let,

the required polynomial be 'y'

According to Question :-

x^2 + 3x + 7 - y = 3x^2 + 5x - 4

Transposing -y to Right Hand side :-

x^2 + 3x + 7 = 3x^2 + 5x - 4 + y

Transposing "3x^2 + 5x - 4" to Left Hand side :-

x^2 + 3x + 7 -( 3x^2 + 5x - 4) = y

y = x^2 + 3x + 7 -( 3x^2 + 5x - 4)

= x^2 + 3x + 7 - 3x^2 - 5x + 4

= x^2 - 3x^2 + 3x - 5x + 7 + 4

= - 2x^2 + 3x - 5x + 7 + 4

= - 2x^2 - 2x + 7 + 4

= - 2x^2 - 2x + 11

y = -2x^2 - 2x + 11

Hence , required polynomial = y = -2x^2 - 2x + 11
