He also protected the north west frontiers of the Sultanate against possible Mongol invasions.Iltutmish, a “slave of a slave” is regarded by several historians as the real founder and consolidator of the slave Dynasty and the Delhi Sultanate. According to them, Aibak was the ruler for four years only.
