1.Why are railway tracks laid on wooden or iron sleepers ?

2.Why do the building foundations have a large horizontal area of contact with the ground ?

3.Why are the dams made stronger and thicker at the bottom than at the top ?

4.Why do porter place a round cloth on their heads while carrying load ?

5.Why does a deep sea diver have to wear specially designed suits?

6.Why does a spaceman have to wear special pressurized suits?

7. Explain how it is possible to drink liquid with a straw.

Answer:

1.) Railway tracks are laid on large sized wooden sleepers so that the thrust due to the weight of train is spread over large area .This reduces the pressure on the ground which would prevent the yielding of the ground.

2.) This is because when the area of contact between the ground and the building increases the pressure exerted by the building will be less for the same force.

3.) This is because the pressure of the water is much greater deeper down and the dam needs to be thick at the bottom so that it is strong enough to withstand this larger pressure.

4.) The round piece of cloth on their heads increases the area on which the force (weight of the load) will act. We know that, the pressure is inversely proportional to area. Therefore, increase in area reduces the pressure and this helps the porter to carry the heavy load easily.

5.) Pressure suits can help humans withstand different pressures by protecting us from the difference around us. ... Deep sea divers will have an atmospheric diving suit which block the heavy pressure of the water around them, and keep a decent pressure inside.

6.)Astronauts must wear spacesuits whenever they leave a spacecraft and are exposed to the environment of space. In space, there is no air to breath and no air pressure. ... Spacesuits are specially designed to protect astronauts from the cold, radiation and low pressure in space. They also provide air to breathe.

7.) When you sit down to a glass of iced tea with a straw in it, you might say that you are sucking the tea up through the straw. In fact, a more accurate description would be to say that the atmospheric pressure is pushing the liquid up the straw.

hope it is helpful

xi will answer bro just wait

railway tracks are laid on wooden so that they got exert some pressure in wood or metal as they have to travel a diatance

2-so that builfing may not fall as large hotizontal area as base will strong so to prote t them from diasters like earthquake

3- dams are stronger at bottom as wTer will exwrrt pressure at bottom so it may not break so it is there

4-si the porter may get. balance and object shouuld weight leass from its real weight S its weight distributes

5-so in deep sea the water depth increases Nd so presuure increases so they have wear suits to protext them from

6-so that his suit ptotects them from outer region atmoosphere as there is no air i am not tko sure about it

7-because whe. we suck a drink from a straw the preesure increSesa and suction force creates us to drink with the straw

amansaikia123: Thanx but could u plz verify the spelling?
