Vaccines actually contain dead virus so that our immune system can produce antibodies against such virus . Also there are memory cells present in our immune system. They kept a record of such foreigners ( viruses) and when a children gets infected the memory cells identify the foreigner and antibodies come in action.

Vaccines are important for children because they doesn't have a well developed immune system.
