Answers
Answer:
In the following year there was a serious drop in indigo production in India, and during the last thirteen or four teen years the history of the Indian dye has been one of steady decrease in production and in price, owing to the increasing competition of the synthetic product.
The demand of Indian indigo declined because -
• In the eighteenth century, the industrialization was at it's peak in the western countries. That's why clothing industries also recieved huge developments and the market demand for clothing dye (ie. indigo) also increased accordingly.
• In the early and middle segments of the eighteenth century, the India was the lead manufacturer of indigo due to the British manipulation in the Indian agricultural sector. The Indian indigo was completely agricultural product,at that time period.
• But,in the last segment of the eighteenth century, the synthetic indigo was introduced in the market. This synthetic indigo was cheaper than agricultural indigo and the production time for synthetic indigo is also less than the agricultural indigo.
• That's why the demand for Indian agricultural indigo, declined a lot.
