Answer:

.In solids, the particles have highly ordered arrangement because the intermolecular forces between the particles are very strong. Therefore, solids have a regular geometrical shape.

.This is simply because the energy of water molecules is more in gaseous state than in liquid. ... This energy difference is called latent heat of vaporization. Thus steam has more heating capacity than boiling water at same temperature.

.The 'temperature of a substance' remains constant during its melting and boiling point because the change in any state of matter as n solid to liquid or the liquid to a gas involves crossing the 'latent heat of fusion' which causes a change in the intermolecular spacing of the molecules in the substance.

.The temperature of any substance remain constant during the change of state because the heat energy supplied is used up in changing the state of matter and also this heat is used for breaking of several bonds or attractive forces. This heat, which does not raise the temperature of the body, is called Laten heat.

.It possesses the additional latent heat of vaporization. So, when steam falls on skin and condenses to produce water it gives out 22.5 x 105 J/kg more heat than boiling water at the same temperature. Therefore, burns produced by steam are more severe than those produced by boiling water.

.The gases have high compressibility. This property is used in the following situation: ... On compressing this petroleum gas it forms liquid. (2) Oxygen cylinders in the hospitals have compressed gas filled in it.
