Answer
The courtiers called the prince a happy prince because when the prince was young he doesn’t know any sorrow and was always happy but when his statue was place in the city he became unhappy for what he has seen in his kingdom.
The prince saw all the ugliness of his city - a woman whose child was in great pain of fever and crying to eat oranges but she doesn’t have money to buy them etc.
