1. Why do we need to measure time ?

Ans. we need to measure time for a variety of applications like to meet our clear cut schedules,to know the rate of heart bet per minute,to know when a plate or train arrived or left,for writing exams .

2. Write a short note on the different types of clocks used from ancient times to be present .

Ans .  In Ancient time there was water clock, candle clocks, sand clocks, sundial, candle clock and incense clocks used to measure time. At present time we use digital clock, mechanical clock, electrical clocks.

3. Explain the factors on which the time period of a simple pendulum depends .

Ans .  time period of simple pendulum depends upon the length of the pendulum, acceleration due to gravity and the temperature (as length depends on temperature). It is directly proportional to the square root of length and inversely proportional to the square root of acceleration due to gravity.

4. How can we determine the speed of an object from its distance - time graph ?

Ans . The gradient of the distance-time graph, that is, the slope of the said curve gives the speed of that object.
