1.Why does the acceleration vary at different places on earth due to gravity? Explain

2.Your mass is 50 kg on earth.Why does your weight decrease on Moon? Explain

3. Take some water in a transparent glass. Drop a piece of stone in it.Now do the following tasks.
i.Try to see the piece of stone directly from upper side of the glass.
ii.Try to see the stone a bit obliquely.
iii.Try to see from a lower level of water comparing to the present level. What is happening in these three different stages and why? Explain. ​

Ans. 1) The acceleration due to gravity is more at the poles than at the equator. The time taken for a body is less if the acceleration due to gravity is more when the initial velocities and the distance travelled are the same. So, when dropped from the same height a body reaches the ground quicker at the poles than at the equator.

Ans.2) Since the moon has significantly less mass than the Earth, it will not pull objects toward itself at the strength that Earth will. This means that if you went to the moon you would weigh less, even though your mass stays the same. Hence, moon has less gravity.
