Vidhan Sabha or the Legislative Assembly is the lower house (in states with bicameral) or the sole house (in unicameral states) of the state legislature. The upper house in the seven states with a bicameral legislature is called the Legislative Council, or Vidhan Parishad. They are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh. The members of a Vidhan Sabha are elected by the general public through the state elections. They are known as MLAs or Members of Legislative Assembly.
