The silt deposited by river Ganga and its tributary makes the plain fertile. northern plain fertile because when the river ganga flow there it cannot carry so much silt with it so it deposits on the bank so they are fertile since they carry alluvium with them . Thus the northern plains are very fertile.

the northern plain soil is fertile because when the glaciers of himalaya is flowing through a river so due to minerals the soil get fertile
