Explanation:

Sound travels fastest through solids. This is because molecules in a solid medium are much closer together than those in a liquid or gas, allowing sound waves to travel more quickly through it. In fact, sound waves travel over 17 times faster through steel than through air. The three states of matter are the three distinct physical forms that matter can take in most environments: solid, liquid, and gas. In extreme environments, other states may be present, such as plasma, Bose-Einstein condensates, and neutron stars. Sound is produced due to the vibration of particles which are presents in the medium. In all the medium wood, water and air, particles are presents and sound can travel. But in vacuum, there is no particles, so no vibration and hence no sound can be produced or travel.
