1) Water is a universal SOLVENT not solid. It is called so because almost every solute dissolves in it and it is abundant in nature
2) Wet clothes placed on clothesline have maximum surface in contact with the environment. Water in the clothes absorbs heat energy from the atmosphere and evaporates. Hence the clothes are dried
