1. why ships float on seawater while a nail of iron sinks ?
Answer:- The volume of displaced seawater by a ship is more because the base of the of the ship is larger compared to a nail and, hence, the bouyant force increases and becomes equal the weight of the ship. Thus,a ship floats in the seawater . In case of a nail, the volume displaced water is less and, therefore ,the upthrust is less than the weight of the nail . This is why a nail sinks down.
