1 why should a magnesium be cleared before burning in air ?
Answer - Magnesium is a reactive metal when stored it react with oxygen to form a layer of magnesium oxide on its surface . This layer of magnesium oxide is quite stable and prevent further reaction of magnesium with oxygen. The magnesium ribbon is cleared by sandpaper to remove on this layer so that the underlying matter can be exposed into air.​
