1.(i)In summer rails get very hot and expand,if there is no gap then it is dangerous for rails.

(ii)To prevent the derailing of trains.

2.No.It cannot be reused because of chemical reaction.It produces very harmful gases like nitrous oxide,remains in air or polluted the air.
