Answer-Kezia was afraid of her father because he never looked at her lovingly nor even play with her . She thought he was a cruel man . she shuttered only with her father because with him she was trying very hard to say the words properly and couldn't do so because of her father fear of him .

Answer-4. on Sunday afternoons Kezia's grandmother send her down to the drawing room to have a nice talk with father and mother meaning that Kezia get to know them better. but she always found mother reading and father stretch out on sofa sleeping. so she never got time to have conversation with her parents.

Answer -

Kazia's father was very strict. He always commands her to do this and don do that. He is head of the family who rules his house. Everyone followed his commands. He never played with Kazia. He was huge, even his hands were big. When he yawns his mouth becomes big. She scared the most when he looks or stars at Kazia with his spectacles.

2. Who were the people in Kezia’s family?

In the family, Kazia has her Mother, Father, Grandmother, herself, and the cook Alice.

3: What was Kezia’s father’s routine?

(i) Kazia's father used to go to her room and gives a casual kiss before going to his office.

(ii) After returning home he used to ask for tea in the drawing-room. He orders his wife(i.e Kazia's mother) to bring the newspaper and his slipper. He orders Kazia to pull off his boots and keep it outside.

(iii) Kazia's father would stretch and relax on the sofa on Sundays. He would cover his face with a handkerchief and snore while sleeping by keeping his feet on the cushions.

 

4. In what ways did Kezia’s grandmother encourage her to get to know her father better?

Answer -

Her Grandmother wanted Kazia to talk with his father on Sundays. She used to send Kazia in the drawing-room to spend time with her parents. She also suggested to make a pin cushion out of a beautiful piece of yellow silk as a gift for her father's birthday.
