ʜᴇʀᴇ ɪs ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ᴀɴsᴡᴇʀ!!

2Mg+O2--------»2MgO (white ash)

2Mg is basic in nature

so,litmus paper will change into blur color.......✌️✌️✌️

thanks!

may be this is your help!!

Aim : To show that metal reacts with oxygen to form basic oxides.

materials required : Magnesium ribbon,a pair of tongs, bunsen burner, test tube, water, red and blue litmus paper.

Procedure:

1.Take a Magnesium ribbon and clean it's surface with a sand paper.

2.Hold the magnesium ribbon at one end with a pair of tongs and bring its other end other over the flame of a bunsen burner till it catches fire.

3.Magnessium ribbon burns with a dazzling white flame to form a powdery ash of magnesium oxide.

4.Take a pinch of ash in a test tube, add little water and shake the contents to form homogeneous solution.

5.test the above solution by red and blue litmus paper.

Observation :

the nature of magnesium oxide is basic. the red litmus paper turns blue, so magnesium oxide is basic in nature.

formula:

2Mg + O² 2MgO

Magnesium + oxygen Magnesium Oxide.
