Soumitra Chatterjee was born on 19 January 1935 in Kolkata. He is an actor by profession. He completed his studies at the University of Calcutta. He has almost done 14 Films with a director named, Satyajit Ray. He made his debut with the film named, Apur Sansar in 1959. His other films in collaboration with Ray include Abhijan, Charulata, Aranyer Din Ratri, and Ashani Sanket. In 1978, he did a film named, Joi Baba Felunath. Next, he worked in a movie titled Ghare Baire in 1984. He played the role of Sandeep in the movie.

 

Besides this, he worked with other directors too in his career. He worked with a director named Mrinal Sen in a Movie named Akash Kusum. He did a movie with Ajoy Kar named, Otol Joler Ahoban in 1962. He has done more than 200 films in his career. He also played negative roles in his career. He played the role of a villain in a movie titled Jhinder Bandi by Tapan Sinha in 1961.
