Answer:

1. Everything in Earth's system can be placed into one of four major subsystems:

i) land,

ii) water,

iii) living things,

iv) air.

These four subsystems are called "spheres."

Specifically, they are the "lithosphere" (land),

"hydrosphere" (water),

"biosphere" (living things),

and "atmosphere" (air).

2. Earth can be divided into three main layers:

i)The core,

ii) the mantle and,

iii) the crust.

Each of these layers can be further divided into two parts:

i) The inner and outer core,

ii) The upper and lower mantle and,

iii) The continental and oceanic crust.

3. A tectonic plate (also called lithospheric plate) is a massive, irregularly shaped slab of solid rock, generally composed of both continental and oceanic lithosphere.] By contrast, oceanic crust is composed of basaltic rocks, which are much denser and heavier.

4. A tsunami is a series of waves caused by earthquakes or undersea volcanic eruptions.

But as the waves travel inland, they build up to higher and higher heights as the depth of the ocean decreases. The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth rather than the distance from the source of the wave.
