Answer:

1.The peasants, however, suffered terribly under this system. they had to pay a very high revenue and could be evicted if they failed to do so. the zamindars were not interested in investing money to improve the productivity of the land. ... once in debt, the peasant found it difficult to get out.

2. The strategies they adopted were: They compelled artisans to sell their goods to the company at very low prices. Peasants were also forced to pay dues as per demand.

3.To ensure a regular flow of revenue into the company's coffers . Encourage the Zamindars to invest in improving the land. Since the revenue demand of the state would not be increased the zamindars would benefit from increased production from the land.

4.Labour was not easy to mobilise as people were busy in rice cultivation. The ryotis wanted to grow rice but in this system the ryotis were forced to cultivate indigo on the best soil which exhausted rapidly so that the land was left fallow and no food crops were grown.
