Akbar himself conveyed this news to Maham; who could not bear this shock for long. She died, after 40 days, in June 1562. In Malwa (1562) Adham Khan was succeeded by Pir Muhammad Khan as subedar (Governor). But he was defeated by the ruler of Khandesh and Baz Bahadur and was killed while crossing the Narmada.
