That is, in the middle the magnetic lines are far away from one another and at the poles are close to each other that is why at the center the magnetic force is less than the poles.

place a bar magnet on a table and put some iron fillings on it after some time we can see that the iron fillings are attached mostly at the two ends and very less at the body. Through this activity we can illustrate that magnet is maximum near the poles.
