I am giving the answer with solution

Answer:

(a) Number = x ,then

x - 12 = 4

x = 12 + 4

x = 16

(b) Number = x ,then

x - (5×7) = 18

x - 35 =18

x = 18 + 35

x = 53

(c) Number = x ,then

70 - 3x = 40

70 - 40 = 3x

3x = 30

x = 30 ÷ 3

x = 10

(d) Number = x ,then

2 + 3x = 26

3x = 26 - 2

3x = 24

x = 24 ÷ 3

x = 8

(e) Number = x ,then

7x - 10 = -11

7x = 10 - 11

7x = -1

x = -1 ÷ 7

x = -1/7

(f) Number = x ,then

7x - 1.4 = 24

7x = 24 + 1.4

7x = 25.4

x = 25.4 ÷ 7

x = 3.628

(g) Numbers = x , x+1 then

x + (x+1) =17

2x + 1 = 17

2x = 17 - 1

2x = 16

x = 16 ÷ 2

x = 8

(h) Numbers = x , x-3 then

x + (x-3) =24

2x - 3 = 24

2x = 24 + 3

2x = 27

x = 27 ÷ 2

x = 27/2

(i) Numbers = x then

2x ÷ 5 = 10

2x = 10 × 5

2x = 50

x = 50 ÷ 2

x = 25
