A true friend, a rare breed today, will stand by you even in your worst times. He plays the role of a guide and confidant, and restores one's confidence in oneself. He provides the psychological prop which one needs when one's morale is at the lowest ebb. Such a friend alone is worthy of being called a friend. In fact, it breaks one's heart to see one's friend change but it is a bitter truth which one has to swallow. A person, who makes tall claims of being an expert in a subject after acquiring elementary knowledge can certainly be very dangerous. An imperfect mechanic can spoil the machinery beyond repair. Similarly, a man who starts prescribing medicines, after reading a few books on diseases and their remedies, can only cause more harm than good. Life becomes a burden for those miserable hypochondriacs who have a tendency to believe that they have symptoms of some or the other serious diseases where there are none. All because, they happened to read an elementary book on human diseases. It is best to seek expert opinion whenever in need, than paying heed to the self-proclaimed experts. They themselves are ill-equipped to swim ashore when in trouble. There is every possibility that their little learning may one day prove to be very expensive and dangerous to such people.
