Answer:

the concept of floating comes from the law of bouyant forces

Concept of pressure behind the floating off boat on the surface of the water;

  • According to Archimedes' principle, When something is resting in or on the surface of the water, it feels an upward (buoyant) force equal to the weight of the water that it displaces.
  • If an object is completely submerged, this buoyant force effectively reduces its weight pushing upwards in the opposite direction of the weight of the object.
  • If the boat weighs less than the maximum volume of water displaced by it, it floats. But it sinks into the water until its weight and the upthrust buoyant exactly balance and submerges when weight becomes greater than upthrust.

Now, we know the pressure is given by, p = \frac{F_p}{A}

Where, F_p = net perpendicular force acting on the unit area

            A = Area

Therefore, the more the area, the less the downward pressure resulting in less amount of water displaced. If the weight of displaced water is less then there is more possibility of the upthrust being more than the weight of the boat. Thus the bloat can float on the surface of the water.
