In order to improve crop yields there are 3 different methods which people can use:

1. Many people use hybrid seeds also known as American seeds, which provide much more yield than a 'desi' seed. However, the problem with these crops are that they are only able to grow in a limited season, so e.g. it can only be grown in proper summer, while a desi seed can comfortably grow in summer and spring.

2. Using Nitrogen and Phosphorus fertilizers. These are used in order to improve soil conditions and help to improve crop yeilds. The biggest problem is that they are very expensive for the small farmer.

3. One of the oldest and best methods to improve crop is to use cow dung. Cow Dung takes a bit of time, up to 3 different crops before it's yeild can match that off nitrogen and phosphorus, but cow dung is cheap to use, readily available and very good for land

3 ways to improve crops are:
1) planting leguminous crops along with cereal crops: This will replenish soil nitrogen content.
2) Using Vermicompost: Earthworms recycle the soil by turning soil and thus allowing air circulation in the soil.
3) Inter cropping and mixed cropping.
