1 , 2 , -1 , -6

in abscissa we have to write the point that lies on x-axis.

here these points lies on x-axis

a) lies in the forth quadrant

b) lies in the first quadrant

c) lies in the third quadrant

d) lies in the second quadrant

Given : The coordinates of the given points are (1,-3) ,(2,3) , (-1,-1) and (-6,1)

To find : The abscissa and ordinate of the given points.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to determine the abscissa and ordinate of the given points)

In two dimensional Cartesian coordinate system, a point has two elements :

  1. Abscissa
  2. Ordinate

So, if the coordinates of a given is (x,y), then :

  • Its abscissa = x
  • Its ordinate = y

Similarly,

  • First point (1,-3) has 1 as abscissa and -3 as ordinate.
  • Second point (2,3) has 2 as abscissa and 3 as ordinate.
  • Third point (-1,-1) has -1 as abscissa and -1 as ordinate.
  • Fourth point (-6,1) has -6 as abscissa and 1 as ordinate.

Hence, the abscissas of the given points are 1,2,-1,-6 respectively and the ordinates of the given points are -3,3,-1,1 respectively.
