Ans - The horizontal line is known as x-axis, while the vertical line is known as y-axis. The x axis and y axis are known as coordinate axis. They help in indicating the coordinate of the point in the plane.

2) What is the name of each part of the plane formed by these two lines?

Ans- The coordinate axis (x axis and y axis) divide the place into four parts. These four parts are known as Quadrants. They are numbered as I, II, III and IV in anticlockwise direction from OX.
