2. Homework is always something that makes a student's life miserable in some way. This is a universal truth. There are some days when you simply do not find time to complete your homework no matter how hard you try. This was one of those days. I was supposed to complete my literature assignment in poetry. Normally, literature is a subject I always find time for, but today was not a normal day. From the start of it, everything went wrong. School was simply too tedious and I was always getting into trouble for reasons beyond my comprehension. After receiving a pile of homework as well as my imposition, I went home only to find out there was a drama unfolding. My friend Bharat had come with me, agreeing to help me. When we reached home, I found my relatives and family friends there. They had decided to surprise me for my birthday. There had been a miscalculation. My birthday you see, is on the same day of the next month. They refused to leave and insisted on having an advanced birthday party. Bharat meanwhile, had slipped into my room and commenced with his homework. He told me I could copy his as I wouldn't have time to do my work properly. Forced to dress up and sit in the midst of my relatives, I wished something would happen that would send them away. If I did not complete my work and submit it tomorrow, there was a good chance of me being sent to the Principal's office. That idea did not appeal to me in any way. On wishing it, I immediately wished I hadn't as Bharat ran into the living room crying, "Rakesh, Pinto is biting your books...!" I rose up in alarm and in the process, knocked over my aunt who fell over the carpet in a hilarious manner and upset the tray consisting of the eateries all over her and the floor. My sister ran in next chasing Pinto and telling him to leave her slippers. Pinto was still being trained but he had never behaved this way. Clearly the noise made by my relatives and family friends had overwhelmed him making him go wild in his little doggy way. Bharat tried to catch Pinto but ended up colliding with Pinky. By now, the house had erupted in chaos and no one knew what was going on. The elders blamed the children who were now scrambling around trying to catch Pinto. Suddenly, with a yelp, Pinto ran out of the house and into the street. Now, this turned from a minor family drama into a full time spectacle. I'm pretty sure all my neighbours probably decided to send us a notice requesting us to leave. Anyway, leaving my thoughts aside, my cousins tired of chasing Pinto as they no longer thought it fun and only Bharat and I were left searching for him. We looked everywhere. To make things better, the weather decided to make my life harder than it already was. It suddenly started drizzling and Bharat in his hurry to get to shelter, pushed against me and I fell straight into a puddle and ended up ruining my best suit. By the time I was all dry and my relatives and friends left and Pinto was found - he had run right around the house and entered from the back, I was extremely tired. Bharat had left for home and I decided that I must try to complete at least my homework. As I looked around for my books, I suddenly remembered Bharat had piled up all the books on my bed and run off so as to not be late. The rascal had taken my books with him.
I'm pretty sure you know how this story ends. I hadn't completed my homework, my imposition was barely legible due to the brief time I had for writing it and I had to spend a whole day in front of the Principal's office.
