Answer:
Three characteristics of tropical evergreen forests are :
- The trees reach a great height up to 60 m or even above. Trees are tall, thick and have vigorous growth
- As the region is warm and wet throughout the year, it has a luxuriant vegetation of all kinds-trees, shrubs and creepers giving it a multilayered structure
- There is no definite time for trees to shed their leaves, as such these forests appear green all the year round
Characteristics of Tidal Forests :
- These forests are found in the deltaic regions.
- The trees grown here are able to survive in both fresh and saline waters.
- Mangrove are the common varieties with roots of the plants submerged under water E.g. Sundari trees in Sunderbans.
Abies Alba (Silver Fir) is rarely used medicinal plant, which is used for antiseptic, antibiotic, eupeptic, expectorant and astringent properties. In folk medicine, it is used to treat joint pains especially due to rheumatic arthritis and muscle pains or cramps
The common plants found in Littoral forests are Manilkara Littoralis, Thespesia, Spinifex Littoreus, Casuarina Equisetifolia, Pandanus, Borassus, Cocos Nucifera, Phoenix, Callophyllum Littoralis, Barringtonia, Pongamia. A number of twiners and climbers are also found in these forests.
