EXPLANATION

  • GIVEN

x + 2y + 1 = 0

2x - 3y - 12 = 0

we can write equation as,

x + 2y = -1 ...... (1)

2x - 3y = 12 ... (2)

multiply equation(1) by 3

multiply equation (2) by 2

3x + 6y = -3

4x - 6y = 24

we get,

7x = 21

x = 3

put x = 3 in equation (1)

we get,

x + 2y = -1

3 + 2y = -1

2y = -1 -3

2y = -4

y = -2

therefore,

value of x = 3 and y = -2 = ANSWER
