mothers age be y;

7(x-5) = y-5 (five years ago) .......... eq. 1

3(x+5) = y+5 (five years hence) ....... eq. 2

from eq. 1

7x-35+5 =y

y=7x-30

Putting value of y in eq. 2

3x+15 = 7x-30+5

4x = 15+25
