and

present age of man = Y year

Now according to your question

8(X-1) = (Y-1)

=> 8X - 8 = Y - 1

=> Y = 8X - 7 _______(1)

again question says

X² = Y ________(2)

by eq(1) and eq(2)

putting the value if "Y" in eq(1)

we get

X² = 8X -7

X² - 8X + 7 = 0 ______answer


then equation is "x²-8x+7=0"
