The city of Delhi has had some encounters with fire wherein property worth huge amount and lives of a number of people has been lost. Among the major incidents, the biggest fire disaster Delhi has faced was Uphaar Cinema fire tragedy that happened in 1997. The deadly mishap killed 59 people who got trapped inside the Cinema hall. Other than this the city has several time faced other forms of fire tragedy like short circuit, gas cylinder blasts and so on.
