Purple cabbage solution is a natural indicator which changes its colour in acidic , basic and neutral medium.

  • When we put the solution of citric acid in purple cabbage solution it turns in to reddish pink which shows that solution is acidic .

  • When we put the solution of magnesium hydroxide in purple cabbage solution it turns in to green or yellow which indicates that the solution is basic in nature .

  • In case of Sodium sulphate the purple cabbage solution shows purple colour because sodium sulphate is a salt which is neutral in nature.
