• The concept of relative velocity helps us to simplify the problems. Using the concept, we assume one body to be at rest with respect to the other and accordingly make changes in the velocity of the other body and make the calculations.

• When we talk about things with respect to us, we assume oneselves to be stationary, and all the other objects are moving. Now when we discuss the velocity of India Gate with respect to us, it will be non zero. To put it in simple words, while looking at it in a relative fashion India Gate is moving towards us, and its speed is the same as ours (our actual speed while walking)
