The Dragonflies don't have a larval or pupal stage and they only have a nymph stage. There are only three stages in the life of a Dragonfly, namely, as an Egg, as a Nymph and the Adult stage.

The females lay the eggs and after this stage, the dragonflies develop into a nymph. These nymphs generally live in the marshlands and in ponds. The nymphs can shed their skins up to twelve times and can stay in the same stage for as long as four years.

Once the nymphs develop into adults, they can fly and hover but they usually live for four to five months and no longer than that.
