Answer:

Zn+PbNo3=ZnNo3+Pb

Explanation:

  • Half oxidation.....

Zn=Zn(II)+2e ......1

  • Half reduction.....

Pb(II)+2e=Pb .......2

  • Overrall reaction......

1+2, we get,

Zn+Pb(II)=Zn(II)+Pb

The balanced equation is as follows -

2Zn + Pb(NO3)2 --> 2Zn(NO3) + Pb

  • Zinc ions have valency of 2. So, in the reaction, zinc with +2 valency reacts with NO3 ions with -2 valency.
  • Lead ions are released as product.
  • 2 Zinc ions react with 2 nitrate ions and one 1 lead ion is involved in the reaction.
  • The reaction is single displacement type of reaction. It can be seen that nitrate group is exchanged from lead ions to zinc ions.
