Step-by-step explanation:

Answer:   received by fourth builder and received by other 3 builders.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of tonnes of sand are to be shared between a number of builders =

Number of builders = 4

Since we have mentioned that one of them receives of the total sand is shared by 3 builders.

So,

So, remaining number of tonnes are received by fourth builder which is given by

And quantity of sand which is shared by 3 of the builder is given by

Hence, received by fourth builder and received by other 3 builders.

Given:

Total amount of sand = 10 1/2 = 21/2 = 10.5  tonnes

Total number of builders = 4

Share of 4th builder = 4/7th of total sand

                                 = 4/7 x 10.5

                                 = 6 tonnes

To find:

The fourth builder receive and how much sand does each of the other 3 builders receive

Solution:

Remaining sand = 10.5 - 6 = 4.5 tonnes

Remaining sand has to be shared between three builders, hence share of each builder = 4.5/3 = 1.5 tonnes

Answer:

Share of 3 builders = 1.5 tonnes each

Share of 4th builders = 4.5 tonnes
