The given series are:

10, 19, 40, 77, 158, x, y

We have to find, the value of x and y.

Solution:

The pattern follow:

× 2 - 1, × 2 + 2, × 2 - 3, × 2 + 4, × 2 - 5, ......

19 = 10 × 2 - 1 = 20 - 1 = 19

40 = 19 × 2 + 2 = 38 + 2 = 40

77 = 40 × 2 - 3 = 80 - 3 = 77

158 = 77 × 2 + 4 = 154 + 4 = 158

x = 158 × 2 - 5

⇒ x = 316 - 5

⇒ x = 311

y = 311 × 2 + 6

⇒ y = 622 + 6

⇒ y = 628

Thus, the values of x an y are 311 and 628.

Given :- 10 , 19 , 40 , 77 , 158 , x , y. what is th value of x and y (number are in series) ?

Solution :-

Logic :- (Multiply by 2) and -1 , + 2 , -3 , +4, _________

Explanation :-

10 * 2 - 1 = 20 - 1 = 19

→ 19 * 2 + 2 = 38 + 2 = 40.

→ 40 * 2 - 3 = 80 - 3 = 77 .

→ 77 * 2 + 4 = 154 + 4 = 158 .

So, in Next term we have to multiply by 2 and now we have to subtract 5 ,

→ 158 * 2 - 5 = 316 - 5 = 311 = x .

Similarly, in Next term we have to multiply by 2 and this time we have to add 6 ,

→ 311 * 2 + 6 = 628 = y .

Hence, value of x and y is 311 and 628.
