Given: The expression is -(-10)-(+20)

To find The value of the above expression

Solution: The above expression is actually the operation of numbers, which can be defined as a particular function that takes zero or other values as input and gives a result for the same. The operations of numbers can be performed by subtraction(-), multiplication(×), division(÷), and addition(+).

Different sign conventions of  multiplication operation are:

  • subtraction(-) × subtraction(-)= addition(+) sign
  • addition(+) × subtraction(-)= subtraction(-) sign

From above, we have

-(-10)-(+20)

=+10-20  [doing the operation of brackets first by considering BODMAS]

=-10  [ we performed subtraction here and for subtraction, the sign of the answer or output is determined from the greater number between the two operands]

Thus, the value of the expression -(-10)-(+20)is -10.
