10.(a) A ball is allowed to roll down from an inclined plane. It reaches the foot of the plane and continues to

roll on the ground. It stops after travelling some distance. Is this the violation of law of inertia? Give

10.(a)No.It is not. Newton enhanced Galileo's Law of Inertia that and object will continue to travel in its state of uniform motion or be in its state of rest i.e. maintain its inertia if no other external force is acting on it. ... To add,inertia of ball is not much because of its mass.

(b)While catching a ball, a cricket player lowers his hands, because by doing so, he increases the time of catch. That is, the person increases the time to bring about a given change in momentum, and hence rate of change of momentum decreases. Thus, a small force is exerted by ball on the hands.
