10.A cyclist travels a distance of 5km towards West from point A to B, and then
moves a distance of 12 km by taking left turn till point C. What is the total
distance travelled by the cyclist and its displacement from point A. Also
mention at which direction cyclist is now with respect to point A.​

In ΔABC,

By applying Pythagoras Theorem,

= AB² + BC² = CA²

= 5² + 12² = CA²

= 169 = CA²

∴ CA = 13 KM

Total distance covered is AB + BC = 5 + 12 = 17 KM.

Total displacement covered is CA = 13 KM

Direction of cyclist from Point A is South-West.
