then father's age will be 3x

after 5 years

children's age = x+5

father's age = 3x+5

but it is given that after 5 years father's age will be 2 times the age of his children

therefore, 3x+5 = 2(x+5)

= 3x+5 = 2x+10

=3x-2x = 10-5

= x = 5

therefore his children's present age = x = 5 years

father's present age = 3x = 15 years
