Read the passage and answer the questions given below:
In all about 5500 dragonfly species buzz around the world. Many of
these flying insects live in rainforests. To find them, one sometimes
needs to walk through thick bushes and put up with blood-sucking
leeches, woms and crocodiles. It can be difficult to track dragonflies.
They can speed by making sharp turns and sudden stops. They can
even fly backwards. Dragonflies come in many beautiful colours and
patters. They also come in a range of sizes. The smallest known
dragonfly is about the size of your thumbnail. The largest will cover your
face. Still, ancient dragonflies were much larger than the dragonflies of
today. Some were as big as hawks. Dragonflies were camiyores. They
are fierce meat-eaters. They munch on mosquitoes, flies and smaller
dragonflies. They use their eyes, legs and wings to feed their big
appetites. Each large eye of a dragonfly is made of 30,000 smaller ones
These small eyes help a dragonfly see in every direction-even behind its
head. To fly around, a dragonfly uses its four wings. The wings beat so
quickly that it can speed through the air at around fifty kilometers per
hour. It uses them to dart, dive and simply stay in the air. A hungry
dragonfly soars through the sky looking for prey. It halds its legs
together to make a basket. When they spot a tasty treat the dragontly
swoops down and catches its prey in the basket. The dragonfly then
uses its legs and jaws to hold onto its prey. Not wanting to give its meal
a chance to escape, a dragonfly can eat when it flies. Now that's real
fast food Dragonflies have been on this earth for more than 250 million
years. They do not sting or bite people. They have changed little over
time. Like the dragonflies of long ago, modem dragonflies live in and out
of water. The future of these wonderful insects is doubtful People are
cutting down the trees in the forests where dragonflies live and as a
result, dozens of species have died while many others are in danger.
