Two points of difference between nuclear region of bacterial cell and animal cell:
Bacterial cell:-
- They do not have any nuclear membrane. They only have the genetic material(DNA)
- The genetic material of bacterias is known as Nucleoid
Animal Cell:-
- They have a well defined nucleus surrounded by a nuclear membrane. They also have a nucleolus and nucleoplasm
- The genetic material of animal cell is called Nucleus
The structure present in the nuclear region of living cell which bears genes is called-DNA
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is found in the nucleus of a living cell and bears genes. DNA is either organised into a chromatin network in non-dividing cells or in chromosomes in dividing cells. DNA is the hereditary material (passed on from parent to offspring) and is responsible for protein synthesis. Genes code for biological characteristics such as height and eye colour.
