Advantages

1. It is cheaper compare to other materials.
2. It is easily available in the market.
3. It can be form into any shape that's why manufacturer prefer using plastic.
4. It can be given any shape, size and color.
5. Polythene bags can be easily stored.
6. They are also good for making toys, bottles,Combs,pipes etc.
7. Plastic like Bakelite are used to make electrical switches , handle of various utensils etc, as it is a poor conductor of electricity and heat.
8. Plastic like Melamine is use for making floor tiles, kitchen materials etc , as it is a poor conductor of heat and resist fire.
9. They are Light weight and have good strength .
10. Special Plastics like PET are used in making cookware used in microwave ovens.

Disadvantages

1. It is Non-biodegradable substance which is very harmfull to our Environment.
2. It causes Environmental hazard.
3. It releases toxic gases on burning causing air pollution.
4. On dumping it also causes Soil pollution.
5. It also causes alot of diseases.
6. It is also dangerous as some plastic should not be reused as they harmful.
7. It has also caused alot of land pollution.
8. Due to Carelessness of throwing polythene bags also caused the clogging of the drainage system.
9. It can kill a human being by choking.
10. Alot of animals have died due to swallowing plastic like cows and street animals.
