The physical properties of nonmetals:

They are generally poor conductors of heat and electricity.

Solid nonmetals are generally brittle, with little or no metallic luster.

Most nonmetals have the ability to gain electrons easily.

Nonmetals display a wide range of chemical properties and reactivities.
Chemical properties of non-metal

The chemical properties of non-metal are given below:

Non metallic oxides are acidic in nature.

They do not dissolve in dilute mineral acids.

They form stable compound with hydrogen.

Their chlorides are completely hydrolyzed by water

1)Non-metals form respective non-metallic oxides with oxygen.
2)Reaction with water:-Reaction of sulphur and coke with water
S+H2O=no reaction
C+H2O=no reaction
3)Reaction of non metals with dilute acids.
C+HCL=No reaction
P+HCL=No reaction
4)Reaction of Non-metal with salt solutions:-
A more reactive non-metal displaces a less reactive non-metal from its salt solution
5)Reaction of Non-metals with chlorine:-Non-metals react with chlorine to form respective chlorides. These chlorides are covalent in nature due to the inability of Non-metals to give electrons to chlorine atoms.
6)Reaction with hydrogen:-Non-metals react with hydrogen to form their respective hydrides. The hydrides so formed are very stable in nature.

There are only 6 chemical properties of Non-metals known yet
