10 children can eat a bar of chocolate in 10 minutes how many minutes would a child take to do the same.

Given,

The time required for ten children to eat a bar of chocolate  =  10 minutes

To Find,

The time required for one child to eat the bar of chocolate.

Solution,

The time taken to eat the chocolate is inversely proportional to the number of children.

The time taken by ten children is 10minutes.

Let \frac{1}{x} be the time required for a child to eat a bar of chocolate.

10 children = \frac{1}{10} \\1 child = \frac{1}{x}

On cross multiplication,

\frac{1}{x} = \frac{\frac{1}{10} }{10}

\frac{1}{x}  = \frac{1}{100}

x = 100

Henceforth, the time required by one child to eat the chocolate bar is 100 minutes.
